World no. 68 and no. 2 seed Magda Linette is through to the 2018 WTA Croatia Bol Open final via walkover. Her semifinal opponent, world no. 75 and no. 4 seed Sara Errani withdrew from the tournament on Friday.
The 26-year-old from Poland dropped only one set en route to the final, defeating Anhelina Kalinina, Danka Kovinić, and Viktorija Golubic along the way. This will be her second final on the WTA tour. Her first took place in 2014 at Ningbo International Women’s Tennis Open, a 125K series event in Ningbo, China where she defeated Wang Qiang to win her first WTA title.
Linette hired Croatian coach Izo Zunić in early 2013 and began training in Split. Since beginning their partnership Linette has improved consistently each year. She ended the past three years ranked in the world’s top 100, and reached a career high ranking of world no. 55 in February of this year thanks to strong runs in Melbourne and Taipei City.
Linette will face the winner of Friday’s semi-final, Slovene Tamara Zidansek. The 2018 WTA Croatia Bol Open singles final takes place Sunday, June 10 at 6:00pm on center court at the Bluesun Tennis Center. All matches will be broadcast on HV2 and live streamed via WTA live.
