Bol, 9.6.2017 – In the first semifinals of the WTA Croatia Bol Open, Brazilian Beatriz Haddad-Maia will be playing against Serbian Aleksandra Krunic while in the second semi-final Romanian Alexandra Cadantu will meet the title defender, Luxembourgian Mandy Minella.
Haddad-Maia beat the experienced Itallian Sara Errani by 6:1, 6:4 while in the Serbian quarter-final Krunic won against Ivana Jorovic with 6:3, 6:1. On the other side of the draw, Romanian Cadantu beat the Greek Maria Sakkari with 6:4, 6:0 while Minella won against the Ukrainian Katerina Bondarenko with 6:2, 6:1.
All of the four quarter-final matches were without any suspense. Greek Sakkari could not make a stand against Romanian Cadantu; after she lost the first set 6:4 she could not get a game in the second. Minella is 31 years old and Cadantu is four years younger. So far they played twice and Minella won the last match in France, 3 years ago. So far in her career Minella earned $1,4 million while Cadantu earned half of that sum.
So far Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia and Aleksandra Krunic never played against each other. Krunic is 24 while Haddad Maia is 20.So far she justified her status of the big hope of Brazilian sport playing an impressive tennis in Bol. Krunic has career earnings of $1,1 million while the Brazilian just passed $200,000 in prize money. Interestingly, Krunic was born in Moscow as a child of the Serbian immigrants.
