15 top 100 players in Bol

Today’s press conference presents the first list of players of this year’s WTA Croatia Bol Open, where we expect exciting matches from 5th to 11th June. It was also confirmed that on Sunday, June 11 before the singles finals, on the central field of the Bluesun tennis center Zlatni rat an exhibition match played by Iva Majoli against Martina Hingis, exactly 20 years after Iva’s winning Roland Garros.


 “The second year in a row and given the list of registered players, our tournament definitely rose to an even higher level. Among the registered tennis players we have 15 of them currently ranked in the top 100 which is great for this tournament, and the last one reported is at the 122nd on WTA rankings. The tournament has also gained international significance as we have the best players from almost all continents. Amongst them is the best African player, one of the greatest hopes of world tennis, Ons Jaubeur. The first on the list is American Catherine Bellis, an 18-year-old who will be the youngest of the TOP 50 world tennis players next week and is currently the youngest tennis player in the top 100. The second best Chinese player, Saisai Zheng, is the star of Latin American tennis and we have last year’s winner Mandy Minella returning “said Feliks Lukas, director of WTA Croatia Bol Opena. Domestic players are not on the list, but invitations are reserved for them. It is announced that Ajla Tomljanović and Petar Martić are coming to Bol, while Ane Konjuh’s performance will depend on the result achieved at Roland Garros.

 

Mayor of Bol, mr. Tihomir Marinkovic confirmed  the great support that the organizer has in the local community: “Through the years Bol has proven to be an excellent host for tennis tournaments of the highest caliber and it is our pleasure that we can welcome one of those sport events.” – he said, also thanking to the initiative of the organizers that all proceeds from the tickets this year will be donated to the volunteer fire department in Bol for the construction of a new facility, necessary for a well-functioning society.

In addition to the municipality and the Touristic Bureau Bol, this year the General Sponsor of event is the Croatian Tourist Board, therefore WTA Bol Open since this year is held under the name WTA Croatia Bol Open. “Sport tourism is a strategic segment on which the future development of Croatian tourism will be based. This kind of international gathering of top athletes is a great magnet for all the sports enthusiasts who visit Bol, besides the tournament also get acquainted with other touristic beauties and pearls of our country, thus contributing to Croatia’s tourism and economy. “Said Mr. Ivo Bašić, Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism.


Today it is confirmed that an exhibition match will be played before the start of the finals on Sunday, June 11.

Our best female tennis player in the history and the head of Fed Cup national team Iva Majoli, who exactly 20 years after the conquest of Roland Garros will face the rematch against Martina Hingis.

Last year’s return to the only professional women’s tennis tournament in this part of Europe after a 13-year break made the local public and all sports fans very happy; as confirmed today, Bol will host the top-class sport and the top entertainment for the second consecutive year.


Bol will host some of the greatest Croatian and international music stars, so the locals and their guests from June 5th to June 11th will be able to enjoy concerts by TBF, Sara Renar and Justin’s Johnson while the club Varadero will welcome DJ Antoine and DJ Sak Noel during the weekend.

Prize poll of WTA 125K Series Bol Open, the only WTA tournament in south-eastern Europe is $125,000. The focus is on women`s strength and their perseverance and commitment to achieving top-notch results.
